Young people in Perthshire celebrate food and culture in new exhibition

A new exhibition created by young people in Perthshire will be on display until December at Perth Museum.

Our Communities team, working alongside the Scottish Guardianship Service, have been working with unaccompanied young people resettled across Scotland to give them the opportunity to meet each other and make new connections.

Over the past few weeks, we worked with the team at Perth Museum and Art Gallery, where the young people we work with visited exhibitions and met with artist Astrid Leeson to create their own artwork for the museum.

On our second visit to the gallery last weekend, the young people returned to the museum to arrange their work in the display case.

The young people arranged their own artwork in the display case. It will be on display until December.

Their artwork explores the theme of food and culture, and will be displayed in the museum until December.

We’d like to thank Barbara and the team at Perth Museum and Art Gallery for providing refreshments and their space for free, and Astrid for guiding everyone through such a fun workshop.

Our young people really enjoyed their time and one of them has already been back with their foster family to show off their work.

It’s so important that young people who have been through so much and may be feeling isolated in our communities across Scotland have the opportunity to connect with others who are going through something similar.

Our Communities team, alongside the Scottish Guardianship Service, do invaluable work to help young people connect, have fun, and thrive in Scotland.
