MS Victoria to close on July 11th

The MS Victoria, which is currently home to over 1,150 Ukrainian refugees, will close on the 11th July.

The Scottish government has reassured residents that they will be offered alternative accommodation.

Residents will be supported by the government and the City of Edinburgh Council in finding suitable accommodation. An on-board matching team will reach out to residents and offer information and advice on the next steps.

The ships in Edinburgh and Glasgow were always short-term housing solutions. While we welcome a focus on securing long-term accommodation for refugees, we call on the Scottish government and local authorities to ensure the alternative housing is appropriate and full support is offered to both the families and individuals fleeing the war against Ukraine, and the communities poised to welcome them.

We have a free and confidential helpline for information and advice. Call 0808 1967 274, Monday to Friday from 09:00 – 17:00
